Well, even though I got a big speeding ticket on the way, the concert was
definately worth the 3 hour drive. ...
No opening bands in Portland, just sarted with clutch. Really cool, a lot
of stage presence and story telling ability. Then a long set change while
they hung these marionette things with howdie-doodie dolls lynched from
them, and a rubber chicken. Backdrop was the same -the board. Microphone
was ten feet tall- no lie. Then the lights went out and the 'wrapped in
plastic' intro started. The rev. came out on three foot stilts, looking
scarier than ever. After that, changed out of stilts. Later in the show,
the Rev. broke a beer bottle over his head - didn't even flinch, kept on
singin'. For those of you worried about him cutting himself - he did it
again. It was a long one too. Played lots of cool songs, Everyone kept
spitting at him. Umm - their version of sweet dreams doesn't sound like the
old one. It's a little heavier and sounds scarier. I loved it, can't wait
to get SLC. After the show was over and the lights came up, they started
playing a copy of the acoustic white trash song over the speakers. Sounds
pretty cool.
