see, it was somewhat different here in nyc. the crowd moshed, surfed, and chanted along quite obediently. that kind of energy was present in abundance. but they weren't giving anything back to the band. for me, manson shows were always magical in a way that the band and the crowd interacted. that nite it seemed that the crowd's attitude was 'we're here, so let's mosh and kick someone's ass!' that, and the same anticipation of blood and suicide you noticed.

despite the fact that most ppl around me sang along, they weren't there for the music. they were there to see 'the freak kill himself' -- a nice pre-halloween entertainment piece.

the old songs really stood out. i think even a person unfamiliar with the music would be able to tell which songs 'didn't belong' well, maybe they just need some time to get the things going smoother. the last tours had a stage show but it was more fun and offensive, now there's actually a message included in the show, so maybe that's a hard transition for them.
