Well, they didn't cancel this one, so I was happy about that. I was a
little mad, cause I was supposed to hook up with a couple friends, but
they thought that "getting there first" was more important than their
real friends. My mistake tho, for introducing MM music to one of them.
So his trendy friends are more important than me and my other spooky
friend. Well, at least I know she would never do that. We have always
stuck together, regardless of wether or not we missed the opening band.
We usually try to miss the opening bands, though, because they usually
suck. I never heard NYloose, but I wasn't going to listen to a band with
a name like that, just caus they are touring with mm. So, even though the
tix said that the show was to start at 6:30, we didn't get on the highway
till 6:45, (on purpose. We would have made it later, except we were
bored. We drove really slowly down there, and stopped at a restaurant to
doddle some more, after mapping out parking and such by the club. Time
was going by really sloooowwwww...Finally, we got bored with that, and
went back to the club to check on the line. Of course, it still hadn't
died down by 8:40 pm. So we waited in the car till it did. The chick
with the metal-detector at the door freaked out because I think that she
thought my inhaler was a gun or a bomb or something. I told her not to
worry, that it was just an inhaler (it gets so stuffy in clubs) and that
I come in peace. I don't think she caught the humor. Well, we still got
up front, as usual, with little resistence, and we waited... Some guy
near us was reading a book, and I had really wished I had brought one
too, because I was so sick of waiting at this point. They finally came
out, after playing David Bowie (i think) over the P.A. for like 20 mins.
They opened with "angel..." like you all didn't know that already. And
almost immediately, I was caught up in that old feeling I thought would
be gone, since MM's so huge now. Actually, it still seemed personal and
interactive like before, despite the magnitude of the audience. Twiggy,
as usual, was hiding behind the speakers, drooling and pouting,
occasionally peering out. He looked different, maybe because he grew
back his eyebrows. Mr manson was still the same, and kept beating himself
up with the microphone. Well, at least he wasn't cutting himself. This
was a no-frills show, by comparison to some of the other reviews I have
seen on here, no mixing bowls, no podium, no suit, or whatever. Just MM
onstage, and a vast audience. Zimzum looked as if he was in shock at the
size of the audience, like he can't believe he is in the band, being
that famous. He is now a "big rock star" heheh. I could barely even see
Madonna, through all that smoke. And Ginger was hidden behind the speaker
stack, thankfully. (I still wish they had Sara Lee Lucas). I think that
Ginger is annoying, pompus, and silly. He seems more like a "Sweet
Dreams" fan, rather than part of the band. I think that the "beautiful
people" (video) displays the extent of his talent accurately. Maybe they
should just give him one big kettle drum and a gong, and get rid of his
drumset. Make it easier for him...heheh. Anyway, the sound was clear and
good on the vocals, as well as everything else. I really got into it.
Some skinhead was giving me dirty looks cause I was singing along, moving
to the rythm, etc, as if I was supposed to just stand there and twiddle
my thumbs. I saw some posts about how it's a shame that ppl are just
going to see MM for a little halloween fright. Yeah, I agree the tix
could go to some more deserving fans./ So I was going to try and remember
all the songs, and the order they were played, but I was so into it, that
didn't matter after awhile. Mr. Manson looked like he was having fun, up
there, and didn't seem cranky. I think it's cool of them to keep playing
despite all those bomb/death threats they have been getting. I kinda
thought to myself, wow I could be standing here having fun, seing my
favorite band one minute, and like a bomb could go off and we'd all be
dead. that would suck. I noticed that Mr. Manson was pretty much daring
the coward fools who want to kill him/see him dead. I forgot which song
it was during, but he was like yeah, come on motherfuckers, daring people
to come up on the stage. Of course, no one did. It's too bad that
whoever is threatening them has to do so anonymously. I hate people like
that, who are such wuss's that they can't say "I hate you," or "I
disagree with you," to someone's face. They have to hide behind some
sort of threat (weather it be real or not). It's so stupid!! Some idiot
was throwing shit at Twiggy, and basically annoying him and pissing him
off. It's like this, either you like mm, or you dont. If you dont, then
leave. If you do, then learn to appreciate the band members (except
ginger, who has no purpose), but there is no need to throw shit at them.
How hard is that to comprehend. Talk about tickets that got wasted.
Well, other than all those idiots, it was a cool show. The pit was
pretty cool, actualy. I thought it was going to be this deadly whirling
vortex of blood and body parts, but it was ok. At the end it got a little
dead in there to say the least--everyone was just standing there. It was
so weird...even during Misery Machine and such. I'd have to say the
highlight of the evening though, was when they came back for a 2nd
encore, kicked into "Cake and Sodomy." It rocked!!! Well, thats it.
Whew!
