I went to the Manson concert in Lubbock, Texas a while back (02.04.97), and I thought I'd write a review about it. (I know, I know; it was a long time ago, but I wasn't on the list in February and I just remembered that I wanted to write a review about it.)

Here goes:

Several weeks before I went, my sister's fiancee (Chris) told me that Marilyn Manson was playing in Lubbock, Texas at the Fair Park Coliseum, and that he had bought tickets for it. I was generally excited, since this was the first time Marilyn Manson had came to Lubbock (I think), and it was going to be my first Manson show.

Finally, after a few weeks of waiting, it was time for the show. When we (my sister Jolie's fiancee Chris, my other sister Hedy, my sister Jolie and me of course) first got to the Coliseum, there was *tons* of Christian protesters there (even ones playing music and stuff... heh, heh), and they all had the typical signs that I've read about. So we waited in line (man, it was FREAKING cold waiting in line, plus I almost got pushed into the women's line because they thought I was a little girl...), and we first off (except Chris) decided to just sit/stand up in the balcony at the sides of the Coliseum, because we had heard how rough the crowd was.

So L7 started; they were okay - I didn't like most of their songs except "Pretend That We're Dead." So after they played, MM came out. Before I actually review the show, I'll give the tracklist:

1. Angel With The Scabbed Wings
2. Get Your Gunn
3. Dogma
4. Dried Up, Tied and Dead To The World
5. Tourniquet
6. Lunchbox
7. Sweet Dreams
8. Cake and Sodomy
9. Little Horn
10. Cryptorchid
11. Anti-Christ Superstar
12. The Beautiful People
13. The Reflecting God
14. Irresponsible Hate Anthem
15. Man That You Fear

Okay, the review for the show:

The lights went out, and these weird noises started coming from the PA, and people began to hold cigarette lighters in the air, and all of the band members minus Mr. Manson were scurrying about on the stage, then I heard the familiar bassline of "Angel With The Scabbed Wings" playing... a familiar tall, lanky, pale figure began to creep out of the darkness, and came up to the mic stand and began to hold it's hands in the air - it was Mr. Manson (of course). He quietly started singing. When he yelled "DEAD!," the crowd began to mosh. Then they began to play Get Your Gunn. During Sweet Dreams he took a wine bottle and smashed it against himself, and blood dripped from his chest (it might've been wine, or fake blood). Then, another familiar beat began to play... it was Cake and Sodomy. I was screaming my lungs out singing along to it.

Then it was time for Little Horn, which I don't like too much, so I didn't really sing to it. And then, Cryptorchid (a song I *hate* but my sister Jolie loves) began to play. Then, there was a short wait, and banners unfolded: it was "Anti-Christ Superstar." Again, I screamed my lungs out. Then The Beautiful People started (it's another one I don't like very much). He wore an American flag during Irresponsible Hate Anthem, which I thought was quite funny. The final song of the night, "Man That You Fear" started playing, and I noticed that he was wearing some sort of flower and blood-covered red dress, and the mic stand was covered in lillies. The show was over, and I was amazed.
