Just returned from show in Wichita. Weather was miserable: snow and
ice, very cold. Venue was small (1500 SRO, no seats). The first sign
of the trouble to come was that the entire lighting rig over the stage
was missing, hence no banners, no snowflakes. Show started off with
much enthusiasm from the boys in the band. Marilyn's (genuine) smile
from Fort Worth had been replaced with an evil glare. Matters came to a
head when MM took a direct shot to the side of the face from a shoe
hurled from someone in the crowd. MM announces "We don't play any more
songs until the mf" who threw the shoe identifies himself. When some kid
raised his hand, MM told the crowd around him to "beat the shit out of
him."
Anyway, due (I assume) to the absence of the stage props, the show was
cut way short (no cryptorchid, costume change, podium or ACS..or Man
that you fear).
Last two songs (BP & IHA) both end with MM destroying the drum kit.
Lights went up after about 53 minutes. MM was lucky that Kansans are
sedate by nature, with another crowd it could have been ugly. General
consensus among fans was that the band looked "tired". MM's voice went
south after about 30 minutes. Very hoarse. Very interesting to watch
but hardly the way to impress newbies!
By comparison, Fort Worth Show went off without a hitch: large venue,
good crowd and a complete show. Amazing! Hope to see the band when
they arrive here in Oklahoma City.
