I don't know quite how sara lee did that entire write up of Cincinnati,
and didn't mention the biggest surprise (ok, to me =) of the weekend--the
Rev's new contact!. Yes, the ice blue one's gone, and been replaced by
one that that's solid black--not a 'make yer whole eyeball black' kind,
but a regular contact lens-sized one. I noticed it about halfway through
the Columbus show, and spent the rest of the night with my jaw hanging
open, trying to figure out if it was a different contact, or no contacts,
and the lighting was what was making one eye darker... (frankly, I didn't
notice much during that show, I was in such pain due to the idiot who was
trying to remove me from my spot on the barrier. He did finally squeeze
in between me and EVB, but we happily dumped all the crowd surfers that
came along onto him =).) Anyway, it looks *very* cool, and totally
changes his expression. Look for it at upcoming shows...
And, speaking of upcoming shows, by Sunday night both band and crew were
going around saying 'only fourteen more days til we're home'; I guess
they've been on the road long enough. According to band members,
they won't be back out on the road for three to four months--this isn't
what Interscope is saying (as far as I know they're still quoting the
old 'Feb and March to record the album, a month tour in April/May
(probably on the west coast), then home to mix ACS, then...???'), but I
tend to put more weight on what the people more directly involved in a
band say than their distributor...
Hm. More notes and tidbits....If anyone's keeping track, Columbus got
"Hate Anthem" as the new song, and Cincy "Touniquet" (In my opinion,
"Smells Like Children" has been missing for far too long..); in Cincinnati
they also did "Dirt" as the lead in to "My Monkey". As sara pointed out,
Mr. Manson's 'let me play bass'idea was pretty damn hysterical--almost as
funny was Daisy watching this whole performance with the 'if you try
*that* with me...' wary/paranoid look..
