Well, the Manson show tonight ruled, although there was a lot of mis-hap, hilarity, and brutality...
L7 was good (I had never seen them before)and very interactive with the crowd, but no one took to well to them which was disapointing...I am still trying to figure out why, but during the middle of their set, some roadie (?) came out in a bicinni...I took a picture as they were ending, and the fucking bouncers took my camera...Assholes...
After a good 1/2 hour wait, the lights went down for Manson. I remembered everything from bootlegs, and when I had seen them in November, so I wasn't too surprised by anything. TWIGGY DID CUT HIS HAIR! A huge clump is shaved out of the front, and sadly it's not too great looking, althought it's interesting, and he does more with his make-up. I could read Twiggy's setlist from where I was, and so I knew what was going to be played (same old stuff)...
In "tourniquet" i believe, Manson took his tank top (yes, a white torn up tank top) off, and the guy next to me got it (it was drenched in wine, and sweat which was sweet)...
Settling down, Manson talked a little about the groups threatning to bomb the place (is he saying that at every show now?), and started into little horn. At this point, he screamed "The world spreads its legs for another star!", there was a hiss, and all the sound went out. He looked around, and everyone kind of just stood there...He looked at someone to the side, then screamed (the mic didn't pic it up) and span around like a frantic kid. Running off Stage Right, the lights dimmed...Everyone started saying "what the fuck?!" and booing, but fuck them...After a few minutes, he came back on, and continued, and everything seemed fine...Getting to "cyrptorchid", all ways going well. Suddenly right when they wheeled the podium out, the power shut off (I did see Madonna look around and smash his keyboard when that happened)...He left stage, and everything went black...
After awhile, a roadie announced "We have some technical difficulties, and the power is out...FUCK YOU! Be patient...or leave..."
15 minutes later, they came on stage, and did "reflecting god", "1996", and "irresponsible hate anthem"...They did use the flag background, but I was pissed 'cause I didn't get to see the podium set up and that whole ring-ding...
In 1996 (i think) Marilyn got some roses, beat the shit out of them, and then threw them into the crowd (fucker next to me got those too)...In IHA, Manson got finally fed-up to the max. First pegging the mic stand at Twiggy, he then took it, and started beating the shit out of Ginger's drums. Fearing, Twiggy left, and Ginger began helping destroy the drums...I knew the show was over, and Manson was pissed, but everyone insisted they were going to play "They can't leave without playing "beautiful people"!)...They did actually start setting up for "man that you fear" (the orchid covered mic), but then the lights did come up, and "apple of sodom" started in...
I went and was talking to the guys girfriends and they told me to stay with them, but those fucking bastards made me leave...I hate RPI's bouncers...The band can't even decide who gets to talk to them now?
It pissed me off, but it was a great and once in a lifetime show... Outside, 3 stations were broadcasting live, and were egtting flipped off, sworn at, and had snowballs pegged at them...Call me an untrue fan (although I've liked MM longer than most of you have even heard who Trent Reznor was), but I thought that was uncalled for. The cameraman had blood pouring out of his face, and he was just doing his job...It was stupid to have news there, but what the fuck is he supposed to do? I didn think the live feed getting cut off was funny (although Marilyn's gonna have a worse wrap now)... In the end, I met a lot of cool people, and had a lot of fun, even if the show was fucked...
Can't wait to see 'em on Friday...
Sean
