Ok, on with the review. As I said before, I kinda suffer from memory
loss after a really great concert, so I know that I didnt remember
everything, but I think I remember quite a bit of stuff.
Well, we left kinda late and we werent exactly sure how long it would
take to get to Toledo from Lansing, MI, but we ended up getting there in
plenty of time, (about 45 min. before L7 even came on). As we were
driving into the arena parking lot, there were maybe a dozen christian
protesters on the sidewalk area handing out stuff. I got a flyer about a
christian radio station and one with the title, "Jesus Christ vs. The
Anti-Christ" or something along those lines. I still havent read through
it, but if its funny, I will post some of it.
I decided that at this concert I just wanted to sit down and enjoy the
show rather than fend for my life in the pit. The previous 2 MM concerts
I went to, I was in the pit and the only thing I was doing the entire
time was pushing 200lbs. guys off of me. So, we went and sat down in
some fairly decent seats, they were quite aways away, but I could see
most everything except Ginger :'( {more on that later}. Well, L7 came
out. They were ok, but I just cant get into music that is just a bunch
of screaming and hollering.
During the break between L7 and MM I took a walk around the arena. It
was then that I made the decision that I want to live at a MM concert
for the rest of my life, I'm serious! I love being around so many
freaks:Þ
I got back to my seat just in time. As soon as I sat down, the lights
went out. I was so incredibly happy that I was going to see the
band in just a couple seconds. First, a purple light came on above
Twiggy's beautifuly dreaded head, (did I mention I have an incredibaly
big thing for guys in dreads?). Then, under a smoky, white light
appeared the Rev. The whole arena started cheering. I was too busy
staring at the Rev. to notice the other band members appear. Angel
started up, Mr. Manson got on his speaker box thing, and I was in
bliss. From then on is when the memory loss thing happened. I dont
remember the order of any of the songs or anything like that. I *do*
remember Irresponsible though, that had to of been my favorite part of
the whole thing. Seeing the Rev. up there in all his glory, it was just
all that and a bag of Doritos:) Mr. Manson talked quite a bit
throughout the concert. In one part he talked about the christians
outside, our parents, teachers, etc. not wanting us to be there; that
they wanted us to be in church, the Rev said, (from what I remember)
"What they dont know is that you *are* in church". That really got the
crowd going.
During some point of the show Manson took his mike stand and threw it
at the drums/Ginger and walked off of stage, I almost started bawling
right there because I had read in previous reviews about him doing that
and not coming back on. But, Pogo, went after him after he walked off of
stage and shortly, they both came back out, I was so relieved. I couldnt
see if Ginger got hit by the stand or not because where we were sitting,
we could just barely see the drumset, let alone Ginger.
At another point of the concert, some guy somehow got up on stage and
started doing a little dance, it was pretty funny until 2 security
guards got him and started beating the shit out of him while dragging
him off of stage.
Well, all good things had to come to an end I guess and after Man That
You Fear? the lights went up:'( My friends and I just sat there for
about 20 minutes absorbing everything, (and waiting for some of the
traffic to clear). One of my friends was on acid, so he was just in
complete and total bliss, literally.
We were going to wait around for awhile and see if we could somehow meet
the band, but we were all rilly tired so we just decided to go ahead and
make the 3 hour drive back to Lansing.
Wow, I guess I remember more than I thought I did:)
All in all, I'd have to say that this was the best Manson concert I've
been to yet. I liked the concert from the Sweet Dreams tour a lot too
because I like POAAF better than ACS, but this tour, it just seems much
more- I dont know how to put it- just much more.
Luv,
