Alright.....here we go again....
I got to Barton Coliseum @ about 4:45.....and they wouldn't let ppl
park until 5:30, so a bunch of cars were in a line outside the coliseum
gates (thank god I was car #3). Channel 11 news walked up with their
cameras and mikes when I and some ppl I met in the car line were sitting on
our cars, and talked to us. I had one of Angelynx's flyers out, and they
took an up-close shot of it. I commented that we don't try to protest
Christian music concerts, so why should the Christian ppl protest ours, and
I explained a few things about Marilyn Manson and the difference between the
Church of Satan and devil worship. The news guys just ate it up. I
commented that one of Manson's and the CoS's philosophies was to be your own
god, and they tripped out (I hope my grandma didn't see it :o( ...)
Finally after the gates opened to the parking lot and the doors
opened, I secured my barricade spot, and at 7:30 Helmet began to play. They
were quite boring as usual. The singer commented that "Marilyn Manson is a
bunch of nice guys, contrary to what we heard". After that, Rasputina came
out. BAD SELECTION FOR AN OPENING ACT. Three chicks wearing corsets with
cellos. People threw shit at them for their entire 4 song set, including
ice, condoms, and lit and unlit cigarette butts. They didn't sound great
live, but I'm sure that they sound awesome on CD. I mean, the crowd DID NOT
respond well to Rasputina. At ALL.
Manson took the stage with Angel with the Scabbed Wings, then went
into Get Your Gunn. After that, they played All Tied up, Dried up, and Dead
to the World....which ROCKS live. Then they played Lunchbox, and
Kinderfeld, which was spine tingling. There was SO much energy, onstage AND
in the crowd. Tourniquet was next, and at the end, Manson crouched into a
little ball on his podium and said, "You never ever believed in me" over
and over again......and tears were rolling down my face (that song has
sentimental value to me)......and I made eye contact with Manson for ten
seconds....it was just electric...and very emotional for me. Sweet Dreams
was next, followed by Suck for your Solution, which went WELL :o) tonight
:o). Then came Little Horn, Apple of Sodom (SNOW :o)) and Cryptorchid (more
snow). Manson changed into his Televangelist black suit with red shirt and
Twig and Zum put on their helmets and coats, and Antichrist Superstar was
next. Then there was Reflecting God, which was almost as special to me as
Tourniquet.....I got so into it...Irresponsible Hate Anthem..1996....and Man
that you Fear.....with Manson covered in blood and more snow.......OH.....a
guy that I hung out with in line jumped on stage at the end of Man that you
Fear!!!!!!hahaha.......the roadies were trying to catch him in the dark, and
you could see Zim almost laugh. The show ended then.
Best concert experience EVER. EVER EVER EVER. MUCH better than
Memphis :o)
