Mechanical Animals Promo Tour Review 11/23/98
Manson was great live and very energetic. They put on a show that's not to be missed. As with previous shows, they started off with "Reflecting God" and ended with "The Beautiful People" and there was no encore. Which to me is cool because I hate cheering for hours until bands come back out again, only to be disappointed.
There were no problems that I noticed that were in shows beforehand. The sound was great and they didn't miss a beat. Twiggy was rather quiet and minded his own business. Pogo had 12" spikes in his hair that didn't move at all as he headbanged. He must've used a case of hairspray!! Ginger put on a great performance. I was quite impressed with his drumming skills. John-5 was great! For some reason after seeing the Mtv awards, I didn't think he was anything to speak of. But with his great guitar riffs and energy he sure change my attitude towards him!!
Mr. Manson changed outfits about 5 times and whiped his ass with an American Flag, a microphone, his bare hands and God knows what else!! He also sticked the mircrophone in red glittered undies and danced around with it there for a little bit, then took it out and started singing again. That was pretty funny!! He also did the podium deal for "Anti-Christ Superstar". Everybody loved that!! I didn't actually "see" the last 1 1/2 songs because I was kicked out for crowd surfing. I did it like 6 times previous and wasn't kicked out until the end! That really sucked!!!!
Manson did some retarded speech about Jesus Christ inventing drugs so we should all do them too. I thought that was rather lame!! I mean, he didn't have to do the same speeches EVERY show. To me, that just proves that it's just a crock. He started saying that he was gonna lie down for a while until everyone took off their shirts, and he wouldn't start singing again unless everyone obliged. I just stood there and thought "keep dreaming". Only a hand full of guys and idiotic girls actually listened to him. But of course, with 75% people clothed and the rest not, the show went on.
I had a great time and Marilyn Manson was definitely one of the best concerts I've been to!! Next time he comes around, I'll be there for sure. And it was great waking up to see the cover of the New York Post newspaper that said "Shock Rocker Trashes Hotel". I wish I had a scanner so I could let you all have a read. It's pretty funny!!!!
