What a fucking show!! Well, where do I start. My girlfriend and I are die-hards, and our story will prove it. Yesterday morning, she and I left Montreal, Quebec, Canada and made the hellish drive to Buffalo, NY (7 hours) so that would could finally experience a live Manson concert. I have no idea as to why they don't come to Montreal, as I'm sure they would fill at least 14 000 seats at the Molson Center. Anyway, we did what we had to do. So we arrived in Buffalo, which seemed like a ghost town to us. There was maybe a handful of people on the streets during the 2-3 hours before the show. In fact, the whole city seemed a fitting/spooky setting for such a concert.
Before long, we found ourselves inside the Marine Midland Arena. We were shocked and disappointed with the audience beyond belief. Those who were there were definite die-hards and we all had a great time, but I could not and still cannot believe how few there were. Maybe it seemed that way because of the size of the venue, nevertheless, it didn't seem right. I wish MM would get their asses to Montreal.....we'd fucking fill the venue!!! Anyway, Nashville Pussy (who's album I recently urchased for interest's sake) wasn't nearly as bad as previous reviews made them out to be. The short chick in the band was unbelievable on guitar, and the whole band had a lot of great stage energy. It's true, the speedy three chords got a bit tiresome, but all in all, I was pleased with the opening band. For whatever reason, Monster Magnet didn't play. I couldn't care less though! I knew my g-friend and I were driving home to Montreal right after the show so that we could make our classes for today (we both have ACID eyes, we're so tired!!!), and so getting on the road sooner was fine with us. Anywa, finally the white curtain fell, and the show started with 'Reflecting God.' Right away, their sounds and power blew me away. I have been to hundred of concerts in my time, includng lollapaloozas, tibetan freedom concerts, and SO many others, but no artist has played with such power, and no one has been as entertaining. Anyway, the setlist was similar to those of previous shows on this tour. Stand out songs to me were; Great BigWhite World, Lunchbox, Antichrist Superstar (can't get sick of that podium shit!), rOCK'n'rOLL nigga (which was the encore.....Marilyn burned a flag and a drum kit which was fucking excellent!!). Other notable scenes during the show, was when John 5 had his head thrusted into Marilyn's crotch, all the while Marilyn was moaning and groaning. I still can't believe what a great sho he gave us despit the poor crowd. Marilyn also played a guitar (maybe 2 chords) which he ended up smashing to shit. What is so great about seeing MM live, is that you get such a sense that he is in control. He minipulates the crowd and by just watching his march from side to side on the stage, you just know that no one else could rock a crow of people any better. Without a doubt, this show is better than you can imagine. It's filled with drama, and great souding music. It has to go down as one of the best concerts/shows I have ever seen. I know i'll be seeing him again, hopefully with a better crowd....they deserve it! I just want to say that it's been only 3 hours since we arrived back in Montreal, and both my g-friend and I have fucking oral presentations and major asignments due today. I suppose we're VERY fucked....but Marilyn Manson is worth it!!
