Other 2003 Work & Shows

SM ceremonial costume bought by Shay Canfield.

My first SM warrior costume, done for auction to benefit Shay Canfield's "Break a Leg" Show, now owned by Melissa Gaulding.

Here's my favorite of the mini work I've done so far! Janice Pletsch of Minnesota commissioned this to fit her "Mosey On" resin. It's shown here on Judy's "Scarlet Fantastic" (SM custom by Julie Froelich).

Here it is on Janice's horse, Pongo Perdition, winning a Res. Ch. at River Valley Live (Thx for the photo Janice!).

These are size #20 (*whew*) beads - at least 100-120 years old and serious eyestrain but so worth it! Pigskin suede; frame saddle made from Epoxie Sculpt, dyed to "natural" shade in black coffee (honest!). This is actually the second breastcollar I made for this outfit -
the first one didn't work at all. Moral: do not waver from your bead pattern once you have drawn it out...

Trad. scale Hunter's costume for Victoria Bartlow.

My first Classic-scale piece! --completed 4/26/01. A Lakota Sioux buffalo hunter's outfit done as a birthday gift for my roomie Elizabeth Bouras, designed to be worn by her terrific Mustang stallion "Buckaroo Banzai" (H-R custom by Sarah Mink). This is my first costume in Classic scale AND my first with a matching rider doll. At Preakness Classic Live it NAN-Q'ed Banzai with a first in costume, Champion Costume and a contrib to Banzai's Division Grand! Not bad for a first try huh? =)

Here's a (fuzzy) shot of the whole set-up in action, complete with "wounded" buffalo.

Here are close-ups of the doll and gear, and the tack itself. Everything here is handmade by me except the porcelain doll (nicely "wigged" by Judy Renee Pope =). Leggings are pigskin suede. Beadwork is century-old size #18 glass beads. Breastplate is glass beads and porcupine quills cut to size. Lance deco includes brown weasel fur, leather and beaded cockatiel feathers. Legging, lance and shield designs from "Prairie Edge" and Mails' "Mystic Warriors of the Plains". (--note "buffalo blood" on lance! we aim for realism here! =)

--- Note beadwork matching the leggings. This was the first time I have worked with #18 beads.
I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Go all the way back to Pegasus Island.
